1964: Kennedy involved in crash of a small private plane. He suffered several fractured bones in his back, broken ribs, and internal bleeding. The crash killed two people.

October, 2007: Doctors perform surgery to clean out a partially blocked carotid neck artery. Surgery described as "routine, uneventful, and successful."

May, 2008: Senator Edward M. Kennedy hospitalized after suffering a seizure.
