A high school principal and two counselors have been placed on leave after the suicide of a senior who was not allowed to graduate with his class.
A spokeswoman for Albuquerque's public school district, Monica Armenta, says Highland High School principal Nikki Dennis and the two counselors were placed on leave Tuesday.
Armenta declined to discuss why they were placed on leave.
But she says there are strict guidelines requiring administrators or teachers who know that a student is threatening suicide to call the student's parents.
Police say the student locked himself in his room and shot himself Monday.
