MINSK, Belarus – The Foreign Ministry in Belarus says a number of American diplomats have been declared persona non grata and must leave the country.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that charge d'affaires Jonathan Moore was summoned and presented with a list of diplomats who must leave.
The order is the latest spat between the ex-Soviet nation and the United States. Washington is a fierce critic of authoritarian Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
The U.S. ambassador left last month under pressure from Belarusian authorities.
