A former student at Alpena High School has been charged with threatening to shoot students during the recent senior prom.
Nineteen-year-old Jesse Mark Jacobs was arraigned Monday in district court on a charge of making a terrorist threat.
State police arrested Jacobs on Friday. Officers say they found a recently purchased rifle at his residence.
Jacobs is represented by the local public defender's office, which declined comment Tuesday.
First Lt. Mike Caldwell says students tipped off the school liaison officer about the alleged threat.
School Superintendent Brent Holcomb says officials allowed the prom to go forward Saturday night after police told them Jacobs had been acting alone.
A preliminary examination is scheduled for May 8. Jacobs is being held on $50,000 bond.
