Turkey Police Arrest Suspected Female Homicide Bomber Caught Carrying Explosives on Taxi

Turkey's state-run news agency says police have detained a suspected female homicide bomber who was preparing to attack a police station in the country's south.

The Anatolia news agency says the woman was caught carrying explosives and a detonator in a taxi on Wednesday, about 50 yards from the police station in the town of Tarsus, and that it was probably her intended target.

Anatolia says the woman had been under police surveillance for some time.

It was not clear if she was member of the outlawed, autonomy-seeking Kurdistan Workers' Party. The group has used female homicide bombers in past attacks.
