Plane Crash in Mesa, Arizona Orchard Leaves Three Dead

Three people are dead after their small plane crashed into an orchard near an airport in Mesa, Arizona.

No one else was on board.

Air traffic controllers at Falcon Field saw smoke coming from the single-engine aircraft after takeoff this morning, and cleared the pilot to return.

The plane crashed into an orange grove after the pilot turned left in attempt to get back to the airport.

It was registered to a corporation in Scottsdale. The flight was headed to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California.
