New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez's wife Cynthia gave birth to a baby girl on Monday night, the second daughter for the couple.

The 7 pound, 2 ounce baby was born in Miami, People.com reported. Her name has not yet been released.

"We are thrilled with the birth of our second daughter and the blessing of having two beautiful, healthy children in our lives," Rodriguez, 32, said in a statement.

The couple has been married for five years and has a 3-year-old girl named Natasha.

"We're thrilled. We can't wait," Cynthia, 34, said about the baby in an earlier interview with People.com. "It's almost more exciting [than the first child] in a way, because you can anticipate what you already know is so amazing."

Rodriguez is expected to rejoin the Yanks on Thursday, People writes.
