A prosecutor says it could take three to four months to return a Marine from Mexican custody to face charges that he murdered a pregnant colleague.

Onslow County District Attorney Dewey Hudson said Tuesday that time frame assumes Cpl. Cesar Laurean agrees to be brought back to the United States without a legal fight.

Hudson earlier said he understood it might take 60 days to bring Laurean back if he agreed.

Laurean was captured last week in Mexico. He is charged with the December murder of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who had accused him of rape.
