2 Police Officers Wounded in Shooting at Movie Theater in California

A shootout at a movie theater wounded two police officers, one critically, and killed a suspect, authorities said.

One officer was in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the jaw, police said early Saturday. The other officer was struck in the shoulder and the injury was not believed to be life threatening.

The shootings happened Friday night at the Pacific Beach Cities Stadium 16. Officers took two young men into custody in a nearby parking structure early Saturday. Sgt. Elizabeth Gray said they are considered "persons of interest" in the case.

Police were searching the area just southwest of Los Angeles for suspects early Saturday.

It wasn't immediately clear what triggered the shootout, which a witness told KNX radio started inside one of the theaters and continued outside.

Video taken from a news helicopter shows a man being wheeled out of the theater complex on a gurney.
