A North Caroline high school teacher has been suspended after two student members of the self-defense club he supervised were seen in an online video locked in a brutal mixed martial arts fight held at the school, according to MyFOXWGHP.com.
The club reportedly had been barred by Davie High School officials from any full-contact fighting, or any sparring outside of the club's activities, but one of the two male students in the video suffered eye and ear injuries, relatives told MyFOXWGHP.
The club was created to instill restraint and discipline in students, but the school disbanded it as it suspended its adviser, a German teacher at the school, MyFOXWGHP reported.
Several states have banned children from taking part in the bloody fighting sometimes called 'cage fighting' or 'ultimate fighting' that mixes boxing, kickboxing and wrestling.
Missouri lawmakers recently introduced legislation to ban the youth fighting competitions.
