Leftist Lawmakers Take Over Both Chambers of Mexico's Congress

Leftist lawmakers have taken over both chambers of Mexico's Congress to protest the president's energy reform bill.

Lawmakers of the Democratic Revolution Party stormed the podiums and forced a recess in both the Senate and Congressional chambers on Thursday.

The leftist lawmakers say President Felipe Calderon's energy reform bill would open Mexico's state-owned oil company to private investment. They say that would threaten the country's sovereignty.
