An 18-year-old Indian woman who is 2 feet 5 inches tall defied medical odds to give birth to a baby boy, The Times of India reported.

Meena Dheemar, who is a dwarf, gave birth on Saturday, three weeks early, because her small frame no longer could hold the baby, who weighed more than 4 pounds, according to the newspaper. It took four doctors to deliver the baby via Caesarean section, the newspaper reported.

Both mom and baby are healthy, said P. K. Shrivastava, the surgeon who led the operation in India.

"Given her small physique, anesthesia and surgery was a challenge," Shrivastava said.

Shrivastava said Dheemar and her husband, Manoj, of Sihora Madka, should not get pregnant again, as it would put Dheemar’s life in danger.
