Two Lithuanian men were arrested Friday in connection with the discovery of a woman's severed head on a Scottish beach, police said.

Two schoolgirls playing on the beach found the head inside a plastic bag Tuesday near Arbroath, about 55 miles south of the Scottish city of Aberdeen.

Police identified the woman as 35-year-old Jolanta Bledaite from Alytus, Lithuania, adding in a statement that her father had been informed of her death.

The men, aged 19 and 40, have not yet been charged, police said.

Police later found two hands, while coast guards located what authorities called "possible human material" along the shoreline at nearby Carnoustie, a resort area which hosted the British Open golf championship last year.
