An Oregon woman says someone falsely posted her name to an online advertisement offering a baby for sale on Craigslist for $1,000, KPTV.com reports.
Birdie Avery said the ad, since removed by Craigslist, used her name in an e-mail address for the classified, which claimed the baby's mother wasn't coming back, KPTV.com said.
The posters offered the child for $1,000 as they were out of "tweak" or drugs, the station said.
"I don't know if this is somebody's really sick April fools joke," her husband, Rick Avery, told the station.
The grandparents from Lebanon, Ore., said they are helping police with the investigation.
“When we find out who did this and who is using my name, I will make sure they get prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Birdie Avery said. “This is not funny, it’s malicious and it’s not me.”
