The FBI says a man and his three children have been found dead in Georgia near the Alabama line nearly two weeks after he fled with the boy and twin girls.

FBI spokesman Stephen Emmett says they were found Wednesday about 90 miles southwest of Atlanta in a wooded area of Columbus. He would not say how they died or how they were found.

The 3-year-old boy and nearly 2-year-old girls and their 28-year-old father had been missing from the Columbus area since at least March 6. Emmett has said Eddie Harrington sent a letter to his father saying he was going to kill the children.

Authorities in Tennessee had issued a child abduction alert after what may have been a sighting of Harrington but it's unclear whether he ever left Georgia with the children.
