A woman from Great Britain is looking forward to living a “normal” lifestyle — after all, she has lived the past 23 years with a 1.5-inch hole in her heart, it is being reported.

According to the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph, Louise Banks said she often collapsed during exercise, but doctors dismissed her condition as epilepsy.

Teachers often called her “lazy,” but in reality, the condition could have killed her, it was reported.

Finally, a new doctor sent her for an ultrasound, which showed the defect — a hole four times larger than what would have been considered a normal defect, the Telegraph reported.

The 23-year-old had open heart surgery and is now home with her son and boyfriend, according to the report.
