The star of Bravo’s "Work Out" talks diet, fitness and what’s coming up on her hit show.

Fitness guru Jackie Warner heads back to Bravo this April and promises an even edgier version of her hit show, "Work Out."

Dressed down in jeans and sneakers — her trademark spikey hair grown out — the reality TV star sat down with FOXNews.com and discussed fitness, food, her show and even her love life.

"I’m so excited," said Warner, who is surprisingly smaller in person than the larger-than-life character she portrays on the small screen. "It’s just so different than anything else that’s on Bravo. It was shot documentary-style. We had two digital cameras. We were constantly moving. It’s just edgier."

Warner, the owner of Sky Sport and Spa, a sports medicine/fitness center in Beverly Hills, said the new season offers more than one surprise. The season premieres April 15 at 11 p.m. and will be shown on subsequent Tuesdays at 10 p.m.

Some new faces will join the cast and some old ones will leave, she said. And, just as viewers watched Warner get her clothing line off the ground last season, this season will see the entrepreneur launch her new protein bar and shake line.

11 Questions With Jackie Warner

So what’s coming up this season on "Work Out"?

I think we really come full circle. You’re going to see me finish a lot of things I started last season. There are new relationships. Of course, there are some shocking moments.

You were playing the field pretty hard last season. Do we see Jackie settle down this season?

I am settled down this season. It’s really nice. And you’re going to see a sweeter side of me.

Your first entrepreneurial venture was a cellular phone company, right? So how did you get into the fitness business?

I quit Warner Bros. where I was working at the time (as a script coordinator) to go to art school and someone said to me, ‘You know, you’re really athletic and you love fitness; you really should get certified and do this.’ So I got certified, went to work for a gym and had so many clients that within six months I started my own gym.

I’m the type of person that can’t work for someone else. If I’m going to do something, I have to start my own business. And with fitness, I found that I can really change someone’s life. That’s what it’s really about for me. I’m not interested in helping some celebrity get an eight-pack. I really want to help people better their lives.

What’s the biggest fitness myth?

You can skip meals and lose weight. I have all of these women who come to me and they’re obese and the one thing they all have in common is that they skip meals. If you skip a meal, then with the next meal you have, you become a fat-storing machine.

If you let your blood sugar drop then the next thing you eat is going to be stored as fat. You need to eat smaller meals, more frequently. As long as you skip meals, you’ll never have the body you want. There will always be something you can’t get rid of.

What’s your favorite workout?

My favorite workout is power-circuit training. Basically, you’re lifting weights for your upper and lower body and then resistance training to fatigue.

So if you’re working on your upper body, you’ll do chest presses and then drop down and do push-ups to fatigue. Same thing for your lower body; you’d do leg presses and then jumping squats to fatigue.

More than likely you’ll be able to do very few (squats), same thing with the pushups. Even men have a hard time doing more than 10 pushups after doing a chest press. It’s time-effective and you’re using your own body’s resistance.

It’s so tough to start a diet and fitness routine. How do you suggest people begin?

The first thing you need to do is sit down, have a conversation with yourself, figure out what all of your can’t-resist foods are and throw them all away. That’s what I do. We’re a gluttonous society. If cookies are our weakness, we’re not going to eat two cookies and stop. We’re going to eat until the bag is gone.

So get rid of your can’t-resist foods because it’s much harder in the middle of the night to get dressed, get in your car and go out and buy a bag of cookies than it is to go in your cupboard and get a bag. If you have to leave your house to cheat, you’re not going to do it. It requires too much effort.

Do you have to work out?

You can lose weight just eating right and you can lose weight just working out. But you’re not going to have fast results. If you do both, you’ll see your waist size change in three weeks. If you do one, it will take six months. What are people more likely to stick with? If you can fit into your skinny jeans after just three weeks, you’re more likely to keep going.

What are the best foods to eat?

I’m big on label reading. I do grocery shopping tours to help people learn exactly what to eat. My thing is, I don’t look at fat. I don’t look at carbs. I look at calories: nothing over 400 calories and nine grams of sugar for meals. For snacks, I say no more than 150 calories. That works out to 1,500 calories a day, which is about what the average woman should have.

Everyone falls off the wagon. How do you get back on track if you slip up and eat badly?

If I you cheat, realize it’s just one day and go with it. When it happens to me, I just allow myself to eat like a pig because I know there’s something in me that wants that food. So I just overeat to the point of where I’m so disgusted that I want to be good the next day. So I would say don’t have a little. Don’t just have waffles. Have waffles and ice cream and cookies.

When you cheat, what do you eat?

Ice cream and pizza. I could eat both every day. I actually save up and eat cheat meals every week. I eat well Monday through Friday and then on Saturdays and Sundays, I have one cheat meal.

If you eat well Monday through Friday, avoiding all sugar, you will actually break your sugar addiction. But you can have a cheat meal every week and, for me, that’s going to involve sugar.

You’re a self-described workaholic. When you need a break, what’s your favorite vacation?

I love Mexico. But my most relaxing vacation is Bora Bora. You can stay in a hut over the water. You wake up in the morning and you can just be nude and jump into the warm water. It’s the most relaxing place.

Now, if you’re looking for an athletic vacation, then Kauai is the best place to go. It’s a really aggressive, athletic island. There are lots of beautiful trails for hiking. It’s great if you’re looking for some place where you can lose weight and still have a really good time.
