Zoo officials in Bloomington, Illinois, reported one of their tigers was a little sluggish Saturday, but Besar had a mouthful of an excuse for that.
A team of experts armed with anesthetic and a shotgun performed a root canal on the 225-pound animal at Bloomington's Miller Park Zoo Friday.
Besar's dental woes were discovered more than a year ago, when zoo staff noticed the animal's broken lower canine tooth.
The cat's tooth was drilled and filled by a team using special equipment to clean the three-inch-long root.
Besar was said to be recovering just fine.
