A 22-year-old Fort Hood soldier on Saturday was charged with kidnapping after he allegedly grabbed a 15-year-old girl from behind and dragged her more than 200 feet down the hallways of an Austin hotel, the Austin American Statesman reported.
Thomas Cummings was startled by a person in a nearby stairway at the Doubletree Hotel and released the girl before fleeing, police told the newspaper.
Shortly after the incident, Cummings came back to the hotel wearing a different shirt and was arrested by police, the newspaper reported.
Police told the newspaper the teen and Cummings were at the hotel for a Japanese animation and pop culture convention.
Cummings is a soldier in with the 4th Infantry Division.
