A Metro East man whose twin brother is serving a life sentence for breaking a man's jaw with a metal tool has been ordered to spend 20 years behind bars for a screwdriver robbery.
Thirty-nine-year-old Brian Rothe was sentenced to the two-decade term after pleading guilty in Edwardsville to a Madison County charge of armed robbery. Rothe used a screwdriver to rob a convenience store in December of $232 and five cartons of cigarettes.
His twin brother, Joseph Rothe, was sentenced as a habitual criminal to life in prison last November for using a tool to smash the jaw of a man in downtown Edwardsville and rob him of $30.
