ORLANDO, Fla. – A two-hour standoff between Orange County sheriff's deputies and a gunman holding a woman and a child in a home here ended peacefully when the man gave himself up, according to MyFOXOrlando.com.
The man is reported to be the suspect in an attempted felony murder case, in which an Orange County deputy was shot last weekend in an Office Depot in Orlando.
Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Solomons said authorities were performing surveillance at a home in northwestern Orlando on Thursday afternoon when the suspect fired a shot at the officers and took a woman and young boy hostage.
No one was immediately reported injured and authorities have not yet said how the standoff came to an end.
Two nearby schools, Rolling Hills Elementary and Rosemont Elementary, were locked down during the standoff, MyFOXOrlando.com reports. The lockdown was lifted after the standoff ended.
