A 12-year-old British girl has struggled unsuccessfully to bring her weight above 36 pounds, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
At 4-feet tall, Ellie Wiseman, who lives in Ashton-in-Makerfield, near Wigan, Greater Manchester, eats six meals a day, but is so weak she can only walk for about 300 feet before needing to rest. At times, she needs to be pushed in a baby carriage.
The problem has baffled British doctors for a decade and her parents Kirsty, 36, and Mark Wisemen, 41, a former Army sergeant major, are trying to raise about $9,800 so that they can take her to top medical specialists in the U.S.
Wiseman's condition has also left her with severe muscle-wasting and weight-bearing deformities in her feet.
