GALVESTON, Texas – A couple bird-watching in Galveston discovered the body of a baby boy Tuesday morning, at first mistaking it for a doll, MyFOXHouston.com reported.
The infant was described as a 3- to 6-month-old male with blondish hair, wearing only a diaper, Galveston police said.
A woman who reported her infant son missing Tuesday is being interviewed by police.
Lieutenant Jorge Trevino says the woman told authorities a man drove off with her four-month-old son. Police are investigating the relationship between that man and the woman.
Trevino says the baby's description matches that of the child found dead.
The baby was found near a car seat, and investigators believe he might have been tossed from a moving vehicle in an area called Cherry Hill, according to MyFOXHouston. The child apparently suffered head trauma, police said.
The couple called authorities about 9 a.m. after making the gruesome discovery near Seawall Boulevard and Ferry Road.
The body of a toddler girl nicknamed "Baby Grace" was found floating in a box in Galveston Bay in October. She was later identified as Riley Ann Sawyers; her mother and stepfather have been charged with her murder.
