The following facts pertain to the infamous Las Vegas, Nev., fire in 1980
* On the morning of Nov. 21, 1980, 84 people died and 679 were injured as a result of a fire at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev.
* About 5,000 people were in the hotel and casino at the time of the fire.
* This was the second-largest life-loss hotel fire in U.S. history.
