Dr. Dean Ornish, author of "The Spectrum," drops by with a recipe that can help you reverse the effects of "Father Time."

• Pear, Butter Lettuce and Fresh Herbs with a Honey Infused Vinaigrette
Specialty ingredient (optional): Edible flowers.
(Serves 6)

This is a wonderful salad for the fall season. Use your favorite apple if pears are not available.

Ingredients:
1 small shallot, chopped
2 small heads butter lettuce, separated, rinsed, and dried
1 Bosc or Bartlett pear, cut into thin slices
1 cup fresh herbs (basil, mint, Italian parsley, and dill are good choices)
2 tablespoons water
¼ cup champagne vinegar or white wine vinegar
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Edible flowers (optional)

Method:
In a blender, mix the shallot with the honey, half of the herbs, the water, and the vinegar, then slowly add the oil, salt, and pepper.
Toss the mixture with the pear, greens, and the rest of the herbs. Serve with edible flowers sprinkled on top.

Group 1 Option: Serve with 3 ounces of wild salmon per person
Group 2 Option: Use 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil in the dressing
Group 3 Option: Add 2 tablespoons honey
Group 4 Option: Serve with 3 ounces grilled, skinless chicken breast per person
