MUSES MILLS, Ky. – A man wanted in the shooting deaths of two people and the taking of a hostage was captured early Saturday, Kentucky State Police said.
Roy Pollard Jr. was arrested about three miles from the scene of the shootings in a remote area of Fleming County in eastern Kentucky, Trooper Gary Thompson said.
Thompson did not have details or know the status of the woman who was taken hostage.
Dozens of police officers had spread out over two counties searching for Pollard after a man and a woman were killed late Friday. A second man was wounded and was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Officers had used a SWAT team, dogs and helicopters in the overnight search.
Police had not said if they had determined whether Pollard was related to the hostage or any of the shooting victims.
After the shootings, the gunman fled into a wooded area with the hostage and was believed to be armed with a rifle and possibly a shotgun, Trooper Ralph Lockard said.
The shootings occurred about 45 miles northeast of Lexington.
