COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office is trying to determine the cause of death of the president of Woodward Academy in College Park.

Payne was named president of Woodward in July 2000 after being president of Williams College in Massachusetts from 1994 to 1999.
He received his doctorate in history in 1973 from Yale University, where he had earlier earned bachelor's and master's degrees.
