December 2007 Archive

Welcome to the PC&G blog!

My name’s Liz, and I scour the Web for cool sites — not all of them make it into our weekly video package, so we’re posting them right here. I’ll post my finds daily.

Got something you think we should see? Send me an e-mail at mobileliz@foxnews.com!

I can’t believe 2007 is almost over! To celebrate the New Year, here’s a list of my all-time favorite sites. Hope you enjoy this blast from the past, and I’ll see you next year! — Liz

Top 5 Sites:

Eat Babies — I may have been the only one to appreciate the sarcasm in this one! It's a spoof of Jonathan Swift's “A Modest Proposal" — it teaches you how to eat babies. But don't get upset, its ALL FAKE ... the site is pure genius and was definitely one of my most memorable finds. http://eatbabies.com/index.html

Sad Kermit — There's nothing better than a video featuring Kermit the Frog spoofing the Nine Inch Nails' single "Hurt" while doing lots of drugs — actually that would be sad, but I guess that’s the point… They’ve got a listing of the saddest songs set to Kermit’s voice. Now they've given the site a simplistic new look since I first posted it, but its still one of my favorites, and I think it's about time we harass them for a new video. http://www.sadkermit.com/

Fine Tune — My days at work would be a lot quieter without this site. In my opinion, it has the best free (non-downloadable) music site out there.http://www.finetune.com

Crying While Eating — Because sometimes you just need a good cry! What I really love about this site is that it’s updated periodically ... so every once in a while, you should check back for their latest videos. My favorite is still Homer Crying over Pinchy the lobster. http://www.cryingwhileeating.com/

Hot Chicks With Douchebags — Need I say more! http://www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com/

Top 5 Viral Videos:

Internet People — An overview of the best viral videos over the years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pPCkhYMQgY

Don’s Guns — The quote of the year comes from Don over at Don’s Guns "I don’t want to make any money folks, I just LOVE to rent guns." CREEPY!!! http://www.humorpix.com/videos/1615-Dons-guns.html

Gimme More (Pills) — Who could forget Britney’s HORRENDOUS comeback performance ... and who could forget this hysterical parody of the pop tart's misfortune. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f20c07thws

David Blaine — The only time I actually like David Blaine is in parody. (Warning: this does contain adult language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYxu_MQSTTY

I Like Turtles — I like turtles too kid.? This is definitely one of my favorite finds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNry4PE93Y

Top 5 Games:

Free Rice — This flash game donates rice to the hungry every time you get a vocabulary word right. Educational, charitable and addictive ... sweet! http://www.freerice.com/

Antbuster — Ahhhhhhhhhhh — I love this game more than I love singing Elton John songs in my underpants. OK, that made no sense ... but blast as many ants as you can before they walk off with your food. http://www.gamefools.com/onlinegames/free/Antbuster.html

Test Your Pilot Brilliance — “I wanna be an Air Force ranger ... I wanna live a life of DANGER!” Super simple, and I love it.http://members.iinet.net.au/~pontipak/redsquare.html

Raiden X — It's a new twist on classic arcade games. Feel my wrath alien FREAKS! http://www.freeworldgroup.com/onlinegames/gameindex/raidenbig.htm

Stickman Madness 2 — This is the best game I’ve played this year! It's a shoot 'em up game, aiming for stick figures. It's very addictive but I’m completely frustrated with it because I always die at the same exact spot! Maybe by the end of 2008 I’ll beat it! http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/381048

The Perfect-O-Date — This is the strangest video dating I’ve ever seen! (OK, so it’s the only video dating I’ve ever seen, but you get the point.) Here’s what one guys said when he was asked what he was looking for in a woman: “I would like a woman who can just get down and bowl!” — I’m so happy I suck at bowling. http://www.glumbert.com/media/perfectodate

AMAZING! — I’m not exactly sure what this is, but the performance art in this one is pretty cool -- but it’s the way it interacts with your screen that’s awesome! http://users.telenet.be/kixx/

Bad Tattoos — I love sites that highlight pics of the worst tattoos imaginable. Some of my favorites on this one are Skull Face, Mr. Cool Ice and Monkey Butt. http://www.asylum.com/gallery/ink-that-stinks/481212/

Happy Holiday’s: The Rap — Here's another video from our friend Remy. It's a holiday rap, and I think it could be a new classic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtA0NmZZvTA

Kitty Cat Christmas — Strange but cute, these kitty cats are wishing you a Merry Christmas. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpHy2lQimYA

I Don’t Want to Fight Tonight — This might be the strangest Christmas song ever, but it’s by The Ramones, so how can you not love it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FA-HMqBQpQs&feature=related

All I Want for Christmas is You — Did you really think I was going to leave out this holiday classic? Christmas would be NOTHING without Mariah. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8rY0Fyws20&feature=related

Happy Christmas (War is Over) — Only John Lennon could get away with giving Christmas a political twist. This is definitely one of my favorites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb2YSAVHmIE

8 Days of Christmas — By far the WORST Christmas song ever! Beyonce Knowles and the other twits that made up Destiny’s Child have managed to butcher and almost ruin a Christmas classic. Sadly, this one’s so horrible that it will NEVER be forgotten so at least they made an impression, no matter how bad it was. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zcmecnSpHQ&feature=related

12 Days of Christmas — It wouldn’t be Christmas with out John Denver and the Muppet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4j1paMC5SM

Last Christmas — Wham! Do I need to say anymore?! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZhoF9Isf0o&feature=related

Don’t They Know It’s Christmas — It’s the original Band Aid version of this heart wrenching song, but if you’re looking for an updated version, check out the Band Aid 20 version — I’m just happy Bono put his signature shades on for this one, he looks creepy without them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jEnTSQStGE

Smashing Pumpkins “Christmastime” — Anyone else freaked out by Billy Corgan singing about Christmas toys and little kids? Maybe he should stick to what he’s good at — looking creepy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHA-DB4Pjz8

I love Christmas music, but what I love even more is that popular artists have taken the time to wish us a happy holiday! WELL, from now until Christmas, I’m going to hunt the Web for the best, the worst, and the downright hysterical. If you don’t see your favorite here, shoot me an e-mail and I’ll see if I can find it. — Liz

The Chipmunk Song — An absolute classic. But, what scares me is that the younger generation may start liking the re-mixed version from the new movie better — blasphemy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmZtDb3ClZo&feature=related

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays — Another classic, and this one’s complete with ‘N Sync and a really lame “Different Strokes” reference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JUsgZOJB9U

Stille Nacht — You know it’s going to be a good year when “The Hoff” starts singing Silent Night in German. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moLDvI5UhcM

Suggested by Raffaella from Massachusetts:

Funky, Funky Christmas — “Christmas isn’t about love and charity, it’s about funky times and just kicking it old school!” — I couldn’t have said it better myself, thanks Raffaella. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jf-GVIxy9c

Christmas is now exactly one week away …— OMG I haven’t finished my shopping yet!!! — ANYWAY, if you need a break from the frenzy, but still want to stay in the holiday spirit, then check out these great Christmas sites. — Liz

Tacky Light Tour — My all-time favorite holiday tradition is riding around the suburbs of Jersey with my BFF, looking for TACKIEST decorated homes ever! (The more blinking lights and blow up stuff, the better!) Well, now I can get my fix any time of the year — and this site even comes with a handy dandy map. http://www.tackylighttour.com/

Naked Santa — So, I wanted to find a really fun Santa themed flash game, and while this one is not the best … it’s the only one where you can throw snowballs at a bare bottomed St. Nick … — always fun. http://www.owensworld.com/flashgames/play-395.htm#embed

The Night Santa Went Crazy — Set to Weird Al lyrics, here’s a cautionary tale of what happens when Santa has a little too much ‘nog! http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/santacrazy

Scary Santa — Around the holidays there is always a handful of kids who are afraid to sit on Santa’s lap. And really, who could blame them? These Santas are creepy! http://divinecaroline.com/article/22059/40140-photos--scary-santa

Holiday Party Excuse Generator — If you’re in a “Bah Humbug” kind of mood and don’t feel like going to yet ANOTHER holiday party with people you’d rather not spend time with, then check out this site and have it generate an excuse for you. http://menkured.300online.com/mrbusch.html

Uncyclopedia — This one’s similar to Wikipedia, but instead of getting the facts straight, this one’s just making things up. It’s extremely humorous and a self proclaiming fake! My favorite is their definition for Elton John — or Dwight Reginald — “one of the world's foremost golfers, robotologists, longshoremen and biologists. Most notably, he has been credited for the inventions the meaning of the word ‘planet’ and the Ballpoint Pen.” http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Five Levels of Drunk — You’ve probably gotten this forwarded to you a million times, but here’s the audio version of Larry Miller’s classic stand-up routine about the five levels of drunk. http://larrymillerhumor.com/media/

Fold School — Learn with step-by-step directions on how to build furniture out of cardboard. It sounds like a great idea, but make sure you get the right type of cardboard! This thing took me over eight hours to build!! http://www.foldschool.com/

Tokyo Street Styles — The Japanese have got a style all their own, and here’s a great site that showcases just that. Updated weekly, this site has pics of people around and about in Tokyo. http://www.style-arena.jp/index_e.htm

Vector Runner — Here’s an addictive game I found and I love it! All you have to do is avoid the cones and collect the dots – it sounds easy, but it’s harder than it looks. http://www.digyourowngrave.com/vector-runner/

MyCoupons — This one is PERFECT for the upcoming holiday season, with hundreds of discount codes for online shopping, just really hope it’s not a hoax — but check out their “About Us” section, they seem pretty legit. http://www.mycoupons.com/

UPDATE: They are legit! I heard from the president of MyCoupons.com and he assures me that they’re 100 percent NOT a scam. Woo hoo! This site is now 10 times cooler than I originally thought.

Courtroom Testimony — People in court can be pretty stupid! I’m not really sure how real this is, but wouldn’t it be GREAT if it was!? http://www.amigamccc.org/journal/0709cour.htm

Elf Yourself — What better way to spread holiday cheer than by making yourself into an online elf that dances around like an ass! Its easy too — upload a photo and the site will put your mug (or anyone else you upload) on santa's helper's head! http://www.elfyourself.com/

Deezer — This is my new ALL TIME favorite music site out there. Its easy to navigate and completely free! What I really like is that there are no limitations — you can even add an entire album to your playlist. http://www.deezer.com/

Doing it Wrong — I love when people are caught in the act looking like complete morons — and what I love even more is when those pics are collected and showcased in one convenient place on the web! http://www.doingitwrong.com/
