Police have released the identity of a man suspected of shooting six people in a west Phoenix neighborhood.

Sgt. Joel Tranter said Sunday the man suspected of the Saturday night shootings is 24-year-old Jose Francisco Mendoza, who also is known as "Psycho."

He says detectives have "very good leads" on Mendoza and have been conducting follow-up investigations throughout the night.

Police said the shootings appeared to stem from a long-standing dispute between neighbors.

Tranter says Mendoza also shot at officers when they responded to the scene, and that officers returned fire. Neither Mendoza nor the officers were injured.

Mendoza fled on foot and is still loose.

The six shooting victims were taken to a local hospital and are stable.
