A generous man in England left $3.9 million in his will to strangers and $79,000 to his family, U.K.'s Telegraph reported on Friday.
John White, who was 96, donated the majority of his wealth to churches and children’s groups.
"One would always like to be a millionaire but I don't begrudge him his choice," said Richard White, the World War II veteran’s nephew and closest living relative.
The money left to the family was to go into a trust fund for his children’s education.
The reason for his donation choices was a mystery.
