Benjamin Ruiz, a 20-year-old dairy worker, had four limbs amputated as a result of the shocking incident. He was driving home from the Wisconsin farm when he crashed into a utility pole in September. Ruiz then stepped out of his car and onto the power line, which shocked him to the point that doctors at the time gave him a 1 or 2 in 100 chance of living.

St. Paul’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Church members adopted him as their own.

Ruiz plans to return to his family in Mexico, who have not been able to obtain visas to see him.
