Italian police have found the DNA of both murder victim Meredith Kercher and her friend Amanda Knox on a knife they have recovered.
The weapon was found in the flat of Knox's boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito.
Sky's Nick Pisa said: "It was a knife found earlier this week when police searched Sollecito's house.
"Police have told me they have a positive DNA match for Meredith Kercher and also Amanda Knox.
"This is not the knife that was found in Raffaele's possession when he was taken in for questioning last week."
According to Italian media reports, Knox's DNA is reported to have been found on the handle of the knife.
It is claimed Meredith's DNA was found on the blade of the kitchen knife which was around 20cm with a black handle.
Public prosecutor Giuliano Mignini is saying he cannot comment on these results.
Miss Kercher was found with her throat cut in her flat in the city of Perugia on November 2.
Knox, Sollecito, and Congolese bar owner Diya "Patrick" Lumumba have been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting then killing the 21-year-old exchange student from Coulsdon, Surrey.
Miss Kercher travelled to Perugia in August for a year-long study exchange at the city's University for Foreigners.
