BILLINGS, Mont. – A Baltimore couple that died in a weekend plane crash in southeastern Montana were returning home after spending their honeymoon at a friend's cabin in the Bozeman area, a family member said.
The victims were the pilot, John R. Doshier, 51, and Sue Doshier, 54, said John Bussey of Oologah, Okla., John Doshier's brother-in-law.
Two hunters saw their twin-engine Cessna 310 go down in an open field 20 miles southwest of Ekalaka just before noon Sunday, said Carter County Sheriff Rusty Jardee. The plane slid about 180 feet and caught fire.
The Doshiers, originally from Tulsa, Okla., were married in Tulsa on Sept. 29 and left for their honeymoon the next day, Bussey said.
John Doshier moved to Baltimore two or three years ago, and Sue Doshier joined him there recently, Bussey said. The couple worked at health care clinics in Baltimore — John as a biomedical technician and Sue as an acute care dialysis nurse.
The plane left Bozeman on Sunday morning and was headed to Baraboo, Wis., Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Mike Fergus said. Jardee has said the plane was to stop in Baraboo for refueling before continuing to Baltimore.
The crash remains under investigation.
"It was overcast, but the visibility was not bad at the time," Jardee said.
