BARNAUL, Russia – A Siberian woman gave birth to her 12th child - a girl weighing in at a massive 17 pounds, 1 ounce, Reuters reports.
Baby Nadia, who weighed more than twice the world average of 7 pounds, 6 ounces for newborns, was delivered by Caesarean section September 16.
“We were all simply in shock,” the mother, Tatyana Barabanova, 43, told Reuters.
Barabanova said she ate "everything," including potatoes, noodles and tomatoes during her pregnancy.
The Guinness World Records lists a 22 pound, 4 ounce baby boy born in Italy in 1955, and a 23 pound, 8 ounce baby boy who was born in the United States in 1879 but died 11 hours later.
