A small plane crashed Friday onto Interstate 95 shortly after taking off, authorities said. Information on potential victims was not immediately available.
"Apparently it was leaving Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport and it went down shortly after takeoff," said Fort Lauderdale spokesman Chaz Adams.
Adams said the plane was a twin-engine Beechcraft, but he did not have information on how many passengers were aboard.
"It's lying in one of the southbound lanes of I-95," Adams said.
Rescue officials were on the scene. The interstate was shut down after the crash, Adams said.
