Speaking at a disease conference this week, scientists say they've developed a skin-patch vaccine that may prevent wearers from the rumblings of diarrhea when traveling to places where stomach bugs are commonplace, French news service AFP said.

Of the 59 people people who wore the patch in a clinical trial by Maryland-based vaccine-maker Iomai Corporation, only three found their stomachs growling with diarrhea.

The results were compared with a placebo trial and showed that the patch cut diarrhea outbreaks by about 75 percent, researchers said.

The findings were presented at the 47th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) in Chicago, which ended Thursday.
