What John Gibson's Really Like and What's in Store for the All-New 'Big Story'

Today is my first day back on "The Big Story." Everyone at FNC has given me such a warm welcome. It feels great to be back at the company I consider my workplace home.

The day started with a quick chat over at "FOX and Friends." I told Steve, Gretchen and Brian what John Gibson is really like. On air, he may appear to be a curmudgeon but he is truly a kind, charming and regular guy who just happens to be on TV. When he is not at work, he’s at his ranch spending time with his family and pets. When he’s not on air he wears blue jeans and a Western-style belt. What a guy!

John and I go back quite a few years. We started working together on the first day of "The Big Story" during the summer of 2001. We spent four years together covering every story imaginable from the Chandra Levy case to 9/11 to the war in Iraq.

In 2005, I left FOX News and moved to Los Angeles where I worked as a network correspondent for ABC News. (John Gibson held the same position at NBC News in Los Angeles years earlier.) I spent much of my time in the field reporting on crime, immigration, natural disasters and there was always a titillating celebrity scandal thrown into the mix.

Starting today, John and I will co-anchor "The Big Story" from our brand new studio. Tonight we’ll cover the latest on the O.J. Simpson case, Madeleine McCann’s disappearance and President Bush’s attorney general nominee, Judge Michael Mukasey. On most days John and I will be in the studio together but when a big story breaks, I’ll co-anchor the show from the road, wherever the news is happening. I can’t wait!
