SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Firefighters battling the two-month Zaca wildfire stumbled onto a 12,500 plant marijuana garden in a remote area of the Los Padres National Forest.
The pot was uprooted in a raid yesterday.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Sgt. Erik Raney says the marijuana garden was "one of several discovered by pilots flying fire missions for the Zaca Fire." The 240,207-acre blaze that started July 4th was contained on Sunday.
It's been a record year for marijuana eradication in Santa Barbara County with the uprooting of nearly 96,000 pot plants worth $306 million.
