In fact, Kidman says her agents warned her career was “going to die” if she married Cruise, which she did anyway in 1990.
At the time, Cruise was the all-American “Top Gun” heartthrob while Kidman, now 40, was relatively unknown.
“My agents told me, ‘Once you become Mrs. Tom Cruise, you do know your career is going to die,’” Kidman recalled.
“‘You’re going to absolutely shoot yourself in the foot.’ I was appalled. I was like, ‘Hello? I’m in love, and I don’t care if it’s shooting myself in the foot.’”
Even though she remains a devout Catholic, Kidman said the two kids she adopted with Cruise — Bella, 14, and Connor, 12 — are being raised Scientologists.
They have joint custody, but Kidman admitted Bella and Connor prefer Los Angeles and being close to Dad.
