Aug. 30

Staff Sgt. Jason M. Butkus, 34, of West Milford, N.J., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.

Sgt. 1st Class Daniel E. Scheibner, 40, of Muskegon, Mich., died in Al Noor, Iraq, of wounds sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 12th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Striker Brigade Combat Team, 2d Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Spc. Travis M. Virgadamo, 19, of Las Vegas, Nev., died in Taji, Iraq, in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 3d Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 2d Brigade Combat Team, 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.

Aug. 29

Spc. Edward L. Brooks, 25, of Dayton, Ohio, died in Ramadi, Iraq, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Capt. Erick M. Foster, 29, of Wexford, Penn., died in Balad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his unit during combat operations in Muqdadiyah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Staff Sgt. Andrew P. Nelson, 22, of Moorhead, Minn., died in Muqdadiyah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Pvt. Justin T. Sanders, 22, of Watson, La., died in Taji, Iraq, in a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 2d Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Cpl. John C. Tanner, 21, of Columbus, Ga., died while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to3rd Assault Amphibian Battalion1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Aug. 28

Sgt. James S. Collins Jr., 35, of Rochester Hills, Mich., died in Kirkuk, Iraq, of wounds suffered during combat operations. He was assigned to the 303rd Military Police Company (Combat Support), U.S. Army Reserve, Jackson, Mich.

Aug. 26

Sgt. Joshua L. Morley, 22, of Boise, Idaho, died in Samarra, Iraq, of wounds suffered when the enemy attacked his unit during combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Lance Cpl. Rogelio A. Ramirez, 21, of Pasadena, Calif., died while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Spc. Tracy C. Willis, 21, of Marshall, Texas, died in Samarra, Iraq, of wounds suffered when the enemy attacked his unit during combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Lance Cpl. Matthew S. Medlicott, 21, of Houston, died from wounds suffered while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Aug. 24

Sgt. 1st Class David A. Heringes, 36, of Tampa, Fla., died near Tikrit, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit during combat operations in Bayji, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Aug. 23

Sgt. 1st Class Adrian M. Elizalde, 30, of North Bend, Ore., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Lewis, Wash.

Sgt. 1st Class Michael J. Tully, 33, of Falls Creek, Penn., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Lewis, Wash.

Aug. 22

Spc. Rickey L. Bell, 21, of Caruthersville, Mo., died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 6th U.S. Air Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Cpl. Jeremy P. Bouffard, 21, of Middlefield, Mass., died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Cpl. Phillip J. Brodnick, 25, of New Lenox, Ill., died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Pfc. Edgar E. Cardenas, 34, of Lilburn, Ga., died in Abu Ghraib, Iraq, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Capt. Derek A. Dobogai, 26, of Fond du Lac, Wis., died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Chief Warrant Officer Paul J. Flynn, 28, of Whitsett, N.C., died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 6th U.S. Air Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Cpl. Joshua S. Harmon, 20, of Mentor, Ohio, died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Spc. Michael A. Hook, 25, of Altoona, Penn., died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Cpl. Nathan C. Hubbard, 21, of Clovis, Calif., died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Sgt. Garrett I. McLead, 23, of Rockport, Texas, died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Pfc. Omar E. Torres, 20, of Chicago, died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit during combat operations. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Capt. Corry P. Tyler, 29, of Georgia, died in Multaka, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 4th Squadron, 6th U.S. Air Cavalry Regiment, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Staff Sgt. Sandy R. Britt, 30, of Apopka, Fla., died near Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Pfc. Donovan D. Witham, 20, of Malvern, Ark., died near Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Capt. Michael S. Fielder, 35, of Holly Springs, N.C., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 248th Medical Detachment, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 44th Medical Command, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Aug. 17

1st Lt. Jonathan W. Edds, 24, of White Pigeon, Mich., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his vehicle using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.

Aug. 16

Spc. Kamisha J. Block, 20, of Vidor, Texas, who died in Baghdad, Iraq, died of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident. She was assigned to the 401st Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

Staff Sgt. Paul B. Norris, 30, of Cullman, Ala., who died in Balad, Iraq, died of injuries suffered from a non-combat related incident. He was assigned to the 401st Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.

Cpl. Willard M. Powell, 21, of Evansville, Ind., died in Balad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when the enemy attacked using small arms fire during combat operations in Taramiyah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.

Staff Sgt. Robert R. Pirelli, 29, of Franklin, Mass., died in Iraq of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Carson, Colo.

Sgt. Princess C. Samuels, 22, of Mitchellville, Md., died in Taji, Iraq, when the enemy attacked using indirect fire. She was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Spc. Zandra T. Walker, 28, of Greenville, S.C., died in Taji, Iraq, when the enemy attacked using indirect fire. She was assigned to 615th Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Aviation Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Staff Sgt. Sean P. Fisher, 29, of Santee, Calif., died in Al Taqqadum, Iraq, of injuries suffered when the helicopter in which he was riding crashed. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment, Task Force 49, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Cpl. Shawn D. Hensel, 20, of Logansport, Ind., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds during an enemy attack. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.

Staff Sgt. Alicia A. Birchett, 29, of Mashpee, Mass., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a non-combat related accident Aug. 8 in Baghdad. She was assigned to the 887th Engineer Company, 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Sgt. Michael E. Tayaotao, 27, of Sunnyvale, Calif., died from wounds suffered while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion, 1st Marine Logistics Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Aug. 8

Spc. Donald M. Young, 19, of Helena, Mont., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations Aug. 7 in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Cpl. Reynold Armand, 21, of Rochester, N.Y., died in Balad, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Sgt. Jon E. Bonnell Jr., 22, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, died from wounds suffered while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Spc. Charles E. Leonard Jr., 29, of Monroe, La., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when the vehicle he was in was struck by a rocket propelled grenade. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Tech. Sgt. Joey D. Link, 29, of Portland, Tenn., died of natural causes at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. He was assigned to the 39th Airlift Squadron, Dyess Air Force Base, Texas.

Pfc. Jaron D. Holliday, 21, of Tulsa, Okla., died in Hawr Rajab, Iraq, when the vehicle in which he was riding was by struck an improvised explosive device during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Cpl. Jason K. Lafleur, 28, of Ignacio, Colo., died in Hawr Rajab, Iraq, when the vehicle in which he was riding was by struck an improvised explosive device during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Spc. Braden J. Long, 19, of Sherman, Texas, died in Baghdad, of injuries sustained when his HMMWV came under a grenade attack. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.

Pfc. Matthew M. Murchison, 21, of Independence, Mo., died in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when the vehicle in which he was riding was by struck an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 127th Military Police Company, 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Hanau, Germany.

Sgt. Dustin S. Wakeman, 25, of Fort Worth, Texas, died in Hawr Rajab, Iraq, when the vehicle in which he was riding was by struck an improvised explosive device during combat operations. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Lance Cpl. Jeremy L. Tinnel, 20, of Mechanicsville, Va., died from a non-hostile boat accident in the Euphrates River just off the shore of Al Anbar province. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. The accident is under investigation.
