A Boston man accused of firing water balloons with a slingshot was charged Wednesday following a camper's injury.
Authorities say 26-year-old Eric Nelson of Manchester, N.H., suffered a severe eye injury when a water balloon smashed him in the face while camping along the Saco River. Doctors told his mother that he'll probably lose vision in the eye.
Police initially charged 26-year-old Jonathan Buell of Boston with elevated aggravated assault. But the charge was lowered and his bail was reduced following his arraignment Wednesday in South Paris District Court.
Police confiscated two water balloon slingshots, a homemade water balloon cannon and a portable air compressor from Buell's campsite.
