If only all robbers would be as easy to scare away.
A 38-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly walking into a gas station with a steak knife and demanding money, only to obey the clerk when she yelled, "No, get out!"
He then allegedly peddled away on a bicycle.
Charles L. Smith, 38, of Sheboygan, was charged Wednesday with attempted armed robbery.
According to the complaint, Smith told police he wanted the money for crack cocaine. He described the attempt as "more of a spur-of-the-moment plan."
He originally intended to use a fake gun, the complaint said.
Surveillance video captured the entire incident.
Police arrested Smith after a citizen called police Sunday alleging that Smith was involved.
Smith, who is being held in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond, faces up to 12 years, six months in prison and $50,000 in fines if convicted.
