Denver Police Bust Illegal Street Racing Ring

The breaks were put on an illegal street-racing ring in the Denver metropolitan area Sunday night, reported Monday.

Using a joint undercover sting operation, Denver law enforcement arrested 11 people for street racing, three others for traffic violations and ticketed 35 juveniles for curfew violations.

Authorities also seized 16 vehicles.

Police said they were made aware of the drag racing problem through complaints from residents in the area.

“Often times, these speed contests, you have vehicles that are traveling in excess of maybe 100 mph, on a road designed for 35, 45, 50 mph," Denver Police detective John White told FOX 31 News.

Each of the street racing suspects is reportedly facing misdemeanor charges.
