UNION, N.J. – New Jersey cops are investigating whether the bandit known as the "Mad Hatter" pulled of his 17th successful bank robbery Sunday, according to MyFoxNY.Com.
Just before noon on Sunday, a middle-aged man in a hat robbed a Bank of America in Union, N.J. Police said the robber fits the description of the notorious bandit, who gets his name because he wears a different cap each time he pulls off a robbery.
The "Hatter" began his run in September, and has targeted only New Jersey banks. Officials estimate he's stolen more than $60,000 in total.
Police report he made his getaway in a Nissan Altima, and that they got a partial plate number from the car.
