A thirsty airplane passenger en route to North Carolina Tuesday caused enough fuss about not getting his apple juice in time that the plane had to land in order to calm him down, FOX affliliate WTFX in Philadelphia reported.
The unruly man, seated at the rear of the plane, reportedly argued with the flight attendant making his drink, causing enough of a disturbance to land the plane shortly after take-off.
Philadelphia's KYW-AM 1060 Newsradio reported that the angry man started swearing at flight attendents when his apple juice took too long to prepare.
The Delta flight that took off from LaGuardia Airport in New York was set to arrive in Greensboro, N.C., at 3:30 p.m., but the unscheduled stop at Philadelphia International Airport delayed the 42 passengers from arriving until 12:22 a.m., a spokeswoman for Delta and Comair, which operated the flight, told the Greensboro News and Record newspaper.
"The people I've talked to described it as a minor disturbance," said Jerri Williams, a spokeswoman for Philadelphia's FBI division. Williams told FOX affiliates that she does not anticipate any arrests. However, Tom Marzouk, the station manager for Delta at Piedmont Triad International Airport, told the News and Times that one person was arrested.
