KENNEDY (voice-over): Scott Peterson did it to his significant other. Mark Hacking did it to his. Now relatives fear the same fate for Jessie Davis and criminal profilers say the Ohio mother starts with two strikes against had. She is a woman and she is pregnant.

PAT BROWN, CRIMINAL PROFILER: It takes two to get pregnant but unfortunately, woman often ends up being the victim if she got pregnant with someone who really doesn't care about her or the baby, a psychopath who has used her up until that point.

KENNEDY: In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saying aside from medical complications, murder is the leading cause of death for pregnant woman in the United States. Pat Brown is an expert in criminal behavior and she says some fathers to be simply can't handle the responsibility.

BROWN: The psychopath may be using the woman for or reasons, maybe because she is paying the bills or because he wants to prove to the world that he is a man or that he is a normal citizen. Will use that woman until the day she becomes a progress and often when she gets pregnant that will ruin his lifestyle.

KENNEDY: That may have been what happened to 24 year old LaToya Figueroa who was strangled by the father of her unborn baby in Philadelphia in 2005.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Can you identify this exhibit?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes, sir, that is my daughter April.

KENNEDY: And we still don't know the motive behind the murder of North Carolina resident April Greer who was seven and a half months pregnant when her body was found in a trash can in 2003. But we do know men aren't the only ones who want to kill pregnant women.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: State police arrived on scene and discovered Ms. Oskin. She appeared to be pregnant, she appeared to have been beaten severely.

KENNEDY: Valerie Oskin was nine months pregnant when he was attacked by her neighbor Peggy Joe Conner, who wanted to steal Oskin's baby from her womb. And in 2000, Michelle Bica buried Teresa Andrews alive after removing the unborn baby from her abdomen. Pat Brown's conclusion, pregnant women need to be careful and protected.

BROWN: The best way that pregnant woman we can protect themselves and we can protect them first of all is to make sure that dangerous psychopaths stay in jail. Secondly, women need to look at who is around them, who they are in relationships with. That's the most important part. Because usually you get killed by person you are with.

(END VIDEOTAPE)

KENNEDY: Brown says if you are pregnant, you can't be naive, she says you have to know who is around you and if they intend to do you harm. And in general, John, she says you have to be aware of your surroundings.

GIBSON: It seems like a shocking fact that the CDC says aside from complications at birth, which we know there are, the number one cause of death is the significant other?

KENNEDY: Yes yeah, if you f you are pregnant, it's murder, that includes the significant other and anybody else who may kill you but obviously most of the these are the husband or the boyfriend or whoever is the baby daddy.
