A botched surgery on a child's ear was the second mistake made by surgeons at the Children's Hospital of Orange County in 18 months.
On June 5 a surgery that was meant to insert a tube into a child's right ear left the child with tubes in both ears by mistake. After the surgery the mistake was discovered and the tube was removed. The child's parents were then notified.
This was the second mistake made by surgeons at the hospital since January of 2006 where doctors cut into the wrong side of a child's skull during an operation to remove a brain tumor.
The surgery was later repeated and fixed successfully.
