Police Search for Missing Toddler from Nevada Home Where Mother Was Slain

Police here issued an Amber Alert on Thursday in a search for a missing 2-year-old girl abducted from a home where a woman was found slain.

North Las Vegas police said they believed a woman found dead about 9:40 a.m. was the girl's mother, and that the girl, Lianette Gomez was with her biological father, 30-year-old Jesus Gomez.

Jesus Gomez was not called a suspect in the slaying, but North Las Vegas police Officer Tim Bedwell said authorities feared for the safety of the girl.

The alert said police were looking for a Blue 2006 Nissan Armada with Nevada license plate 123TEE, which Bedwell said authorities believed could be headed toward California, Arizona or Mexico.

The identity of the woman was not immediately released, pending identification by the Clark County coroner and notification of relatives, Bedwell said.
