A 2-year-old Detroit boy was found safe less than a day after his mother reported him kidnapped — and the mom is now facing charges of lying about the ordeal and filing a false police report, according to police.
Troy Charles James Squalls was reported missing Tuesday night after his mother told cops two men assaulted her and took her son while they were out on a walk at roughly 9:30 p.m. She reported the suspects as driving a gold colored mini-van and demanding $10,000 for the boy's safe return.
In response, the Detroit Police Department and Michigan State Police issued an Amber Alert for Squalls.
But police found the boy today with one of the mother's friends.
Cops are currently questioning the mother and are looking into whether she conspired with the men that police were supposed to be searching for.
