Painful at the Pump

The AAA reported this past week the average gas prices around the country could reach record highs in the coming weeks and in some areas drivers are already looking at $3 a gallon!

So what is your Democratic Congress doing about this? A year ago Democrats used high gas prices to bash the president and get themselves elected to office:

SEN. HILLARY CLINTON, (D), NEW YORK: We have got to get action to get these prices down. And even more importantly get us on a path of energy independence before it's too late.

SEN. BARBARA BOXER (D) CALIFORNIA: What we are seeing is government run for the oil companies. It's very, very clear. We are having an election soon. This is going to be a very, very big issue.

SEN. CHARLES SCHUMER (D) NEW YORK: Well, we knew this was going to happen. Prices are now back up over $3 a gallon. If we do nothing, within all to short a time they are going to be at $4 a gallon and $5 a gallon and there will be a giant hole getting bigger and bigger and bigger in every consumer's pocket book and wallet.

CLINTON: We have held so many press events. We have made so many speeches. We have offered realistic practical alternatives and the problem keeps getting worse. This is indicative of this administration's failed policies.

So where is their plan? Now they told America, if they were elected, they would fix this problem. And now the price of gas is higher than ever.

This is the sort of empty rhetoric and anti-war Bush hating posse. But this time it's not just soldiers who are paying the price, it's every one of you.

And that's the state of America tonight.
